It was not pure osmosis from which Mischa Couvrette built hollis+morris. With an inherent knack for building, Couvrette developed his appreciation for design while hanging around a group of budding architects as he worked towards his bachelors in environmental sciences. With a newfound passion for design, Couvrette found himself making furniture on the east coast, and eventually made his way to Toronto via a yearlong sail to Guatemala on a boat he overhauled with a friend.
Couvrette’s designs display an unwavering truth to materials - a reflection of his straight-shooting nature. Building hollis+morris as a brand has not only revealed Courvette’s hidden creativity, but also his extraordinary ambition.
